Handmade Myrtlewood Garden Trug
In 1979, Don Barber retired from shipbuilding in Coos Bay, Oregon, and started a family business handcrafting baskets out of myrtlewood and copper nails. Pacific Northwest Myrtlewood is a hardwood, fine grained wood that grows abundantly in a small region of Oregon.
Each basket is built one at a time, by hand, fastened with copper nails, air dried, hand sanded, and dipped in clear mineral oil. Don's baskets are made to be a keepsake, which will reflect the passing of time with continuous use and proper care.
The garden trug is a sturdy, shallow, footed basket used traditionally to carry produce and flowers from the garden.
Care Instructions:
Do not leave your basket exposed to continuous sun or rain, oil it occasionally with food safe mineral oil, and you will enjoy your basket for a lifetime!
