Roasted in Berlin, Massachusetts, Gracenote Coffee was founded in 2012 by Patrick Barter, a Maine native who studied digital music and percussion.

What sets Gracenote apart from other roasters is their commitment to express what they imagine and understand to be a coffee’s full potential. There is this wide-eyed curiosity in the approach to their coffee that makes every roast sing.

  • Our house blend at Little King and used as our main espresso roast. Roasted by Gracenote Coffee in Boston, they combine 30% of our Misty Valley naturally processed coffee with 70% of a naturally processed Brazilian coffee that's blended specifically for espresso by one of their import/export partners. The result is a rich, classic espresso—or a mellow, balanced coffee for any  brew method.

Misty Valley - Ethiopia

Elevation: 1750-2000m

Misty Valley is everything you’d expect from a natural process coffee grown in the Yirgacheffe region. A fruit forward, blueberry-rich flavor, and bright acidity are balanced by a full body and clean finish. We love it for its unique chocolate cheesecake richness to pair with the classic fruit and floral notes typical of Yirgacheffe coffees.

Misty Valley has been a staple of our line up, and a favorite for our customers since we brought it into the lineup in 2012.

 

Altura - Colombia 

Tasting Notes: toffee, dark chocolate, green grape, sesame

Process: Washed

Region: Nariño

Varietal: Colombia, Castillo, Caturra

Elevation: 2000-2050m

The Nariño region of Colombia is renowned as one of the great coffee regions of the world. Its unique combination of high elevation, plentiful rainfall, and high-quality, volcanic soil, imbues coffee grown here with the potential for great flavor. High elevation coffees tend to have livelier flavor profiles, and this one is no exception—the name Altura (meaning “height” in Spanish) is a nod to its heritage as beans grown in the Andes Mountains. We aim to bring out the full potential of this coffee in the roasting process, developing a flavor profile with exciting sweetness and toffee-like caramel notes, and a rich array of secondary flavors such as dark chocolate, green grape, and sesame to provide a full flavored coffee you’ll be sure to want to return to again and again.

Burundi Rugembe Hill

Region: Bujumbura rural, Mumirwa

Varietal: Bourbon

Spring in a cup!

Rugembe Hill stands out with a bright and complex cup. Layers of limeade, persimmon, and lavender balance beautifully with honeydew and molasses sweetness to make this coffee a new favorite.

Rugembe Hill comes to us from the Migoti Washing Station in Mutambu. Rebuilt in 2016 by majority owner Pontien Ntunzwenimana, this state-of-the-art coffee washing station has processed some of the best of what multi-generational coffee farmers in Burundi have to offer. Migoti Coffee’s vision is to see the local coffee-growing community grow in health and economic prosperity, with quality production as one of several entrepreneurial activities underway.

Columbia Jose Effrain Villada Guerrero - Santa Rosa

Introducing a new edition to our Colombian micro-lot series. Santa Rosa is one of the larger producing farms from our micro-lot series who we have been working with by way of Azahar. Generating about 650kg of coffee this harvest year, all of which you can find only here and on our cafe’s shelves!

This is our eighth season working with Azahar; all to find some of the best Colombian lots to share. What makes this series special is not just the great coffee, but the great people who work to support its journey from seed to cup. Azahar has been working tirelessly on a sustainable business model, which allows growers like Jose Guerrero more room to help pave a new direction in sustainable farming and business practices, something we can all be proud of.
