Melonpan Lamp

Pampshade is the creative label of artist Yukiko Morita, who transforms unsold bread from partner bakeries into one-of-a-kind lamps and artworks. Inspired by witnessing large amounts of bread and leftover dough discarded each day, Morita began rescuing unsold loaves and reimagining them through craft and design, giving them a second life instead of allowing them to go to waste.

What began as a personal response to food waste evolved into a practice rooted in sustainability, artistry, and a deep appreciation for the warmth and beauty of bread. Each Pampshade piece preserves the unique textures, shapes, and character of real baked bread, celebrating it not only as food, but as an object capable of bringing comfort, light, and joy. Through this work, Morita hopes to create small but meaningful positive impacts for bakeries, bread lovers, and the wider breadmaking industry.
