STOFF Nagel’s iconic candle holder traces its roots to postwar Cologne, where Hans Nagel’s family transformed salvaged brass into functional objects and developed a lasting passion for art and design. In the 1960s, Nagel met artist and architect Werner Stoff, and the pair turned an idea inspired by three finger holes in the snow into a sculptural candle holder. Launched in the late 1960s, its distinctive modular design quickly became a design icon and a symbol of creative individualism.

After being unavailable for many years, the candle holder was relaunched by Danish design company STOFF Copenhagen using Stoff’s original drawings, bringing the beloved design back into homes around the world.

The collection has since expanded to include bowls, stands, and vases, all designed to complement the candle holder and encourage endless combinations. Today, STOFF Nagel continues to blur the line between functional object and sculpture, offering a timeless design that can be continually rearranged and made uniquely your own.
