Rabbit Soy Sauce Pot
First introduced around 1980 by Ryuichi Tokunaga, fourth-generation owner of the historic Koraku Kiln, this beloved rabbit-painted soy sauce dispenser represents both innovation and tradition in Arita ware craftsmanship. Koraku Kiln itself has operated continuously since 1865, famously maintaining its kiln fire without interruption for generations.
At a time when soy sauce dispensers commonly dripped, stained trays, and allowed soy sauce to harden unattractively around the spout, Ryuichi Tokunaga set out to create something better. Through repeated experimentation and refinement, he developed a groundbreaking design that cleanly prevents the final drop from falling—eliminating the need for a tray while preserving both function and beauty.
